International Students
Balwyn High School is a large multicultural, co-educational, public secondary school of about 1900 students. Located in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, the school was established in 1954 and the International Student Program began in 1996. We aim to select quality students from China, Vietnam, South Korean, etc. Balwyn High School has easy access to both tram and bus services.
A well-round, balanced education
Over a long period of time, the Balwyn High School community has established a code of behaviour based on respect for the rights and dignity of others. The school prides itself on being a learning community, encouraging a strong work ethic that values achievement, maximises the potential of each student and requires a high standard of personal conduct.
While the focus of our curriculum is academic, the aim is to provide a well-rounded, balanced education that encourages individual development and exposes students to a broad range of experiences and situations. The school prepares students for a lifetime of learning.
Quality Staff and Excellent Academic Achievements
The highly qualified and experienced staff of the school provide international students with a diverse curriculum and a challenging educational program which leads to consistently outstanding VCE results. In 2009 university entry, 50% of international students had an ENTER (Equivalent National Tertiary Entrance Rank) of 90 and above; 31% had an ENTER score of 95 and above; 22% had an ENTER score of 97 and above.
Every year, a number of international students are awarded prizes from the school and from state-wide competitions.
